Access Statement



1 Introduction

Our self-catering cottage is a traditional Lakeland stone built mid terrace cottage.  It is situated on a no through road and in a very quiet part of Keswicks’ conservation area.  We have tried to provide as much detail as possible in this statement so that potential visitors have sufficient information and descriptions prior to making a booking.  We welcome all enquires by telephone, letter or email.


2 Pre-Arrival:

Buses
The nearest bus stop is situated at Booths Supermarket which is 5 minutes walk away. Visit Traveline for timetables.

Trains
The nearest train station is at Penrith, 13 miles east of Keswick and serves the main London Euston/Glasgow/Edinburgh West Coast line. Details from, thetrainline.com.

Public Car Park
The nearest car park is the Central Car Park, 50 yards from the cottage. This is a pay and display car park. 

National Concession Travel Scheme
Keswick is part of Allerdale Borough Council who participate in the National Concession Travel Scheme (Free travel if eligibility met). For more information, visit Allerdale Concessionary Travel.


3 Arrival & Car Parking

There is parking for one vehicle at Slee Cottage.  The car parking is level.  If guests have two cars then there is a digitall permit (car registration will be required) available for a car to be parked on the nearby Central Car Park. Cars can also be parked on the Lakeside and Otley Road Car Parks. There is a fee of £20 (pro-rated for short breaks) to be paid for the permit.  Car parking at the cottage is at the rear of the cottage and this is accessed via a one car width lane.


4 Entrance

The nearest entrance to the cottage from the car parking area is via the back door.  The ground is level from the car parking area to the patio area and is covered by small loose chippings.  There is one step 9” high onto the patio area, thereafter it is level, apart from the door frame, into the cottage. The back door is accessed by a key which is held in the key cupboard next to the back door.  The door opens directly into the kitchen.  At right angles to the back door there is a sliding patio door.  There is a porch at the front of the cottage which is accessed by a pedestrian lane from Market Square.  The porch has double doors overall width 50”.  Entrance from the lane into the cottage is virtually level.


5 Ground Floor: Kitchen, Dining Area & Lounge

The kitchen is well equipped with appliances. 

There is an integrated automatic Washer, an integrated Dishwasher, Gas Hob with 4 burners, integrated Electric Double Oven/Grill, an integrated Fridge with icebox  and an integrated Microwave.

The kitchen is well lit with natural light from the window and sunken spot lights in the ceiling. 

The boiler is housed in a locked cupboard in the kitchen. 

Flooring is laminated.

Some cupboards are floor level and others are wall mounted

 From the open plan kitchen there is a 2” step leading into the dining area.  The dining area has an oval shaped table and is supported by central pedestal legs.  The chairs are moveable.  There is solid oak flooring throughout the dining and lounge area. 

There are two good sized double sofas, a games chest and bookcase.  Television is remote controlled.  Current legislation does not allow us to leave any CD’s or DVD’s in the cottage.

 Off the lounge there is a small cupboard where the upright vacuum cleaner, iron, ironing board, brushes, mop and clothes airer and fire extinguisher are housed.


6 Hall and Stairs

A door 27” wide leads to the hallway and the front door is off to the right.  The floor is the same solid oak as in the dining/lounge area.

 Stairs lead from the hall way to the upper two floors.  All stairs are carpeted and the stair case is well illuminated with natural light and electric lighting.  A hand rail has been installed on the first section of the first flight of stairs.


 

7 Bedrooms

On the first floor there is a single bedroom and a double bedroom. The double room has a king sized bed. Both have standard sized furniture, are carpeted and have ample natural light

 On the second floor there is a family room which has a king sized bed and a single bed and standard sized furniture.  This bedroom is carpeted and has a window supplying natural light.  This bedroom is under the eaves of the house and in places is not of a normal standard ceiling height.


8 Bathrooms

The bathroom on the first floor has a toilet, washbasin with mirror, light and shaver socket over, and a large walk-in shower. The fixed overhead shower operates off the mains water supply. There is a large radiator. Flooring is laminated. There is a window for natural light and sunken spot lights in the ceiling.

 The bathroom on the second floor has a toilet, washbasin with mirror and shaver socket over, and a standard sized bath. There is an electric shower over the bath. There is a large radiator. Flooring is laminated. There is a window for natural light and a ceiling light incorporating a fan.
